After two decades as an entrepreneur, I found myself in unfamiliar territory—searching for a job in a place where I had no network. It was the first time in 20 years I wasn’t building something of my own, and suddenly I was on the outside looking in.
What struck me most wasn’t just how hard it was to find opportunities—it was who was finding them. I met incredibly talented people struggling to get interviews, while others with fewer skills moved ahead simply because they knew the right people. That’s when it hit me: the way we build and maintain professional relationships is broken.
Networking is often treated like a panic button—something you turn to only when you’re out of work or in need. But real networking isn’t transactional. It’s not about job hunting; it’s about relationship building. It’s about planting seeds and nurturing them long before you need them.
I searched for tools to help. What I found were overly complex platforms or apps that missed the point entirely. Nothing felt human. Nothing helped me stay meaningfully connected.
